The Community Foundation of Brazoria County exists to serve you.  We serve as a comprehensive center for philanthropy, applying our community and grant-making experience, connections, and expertise on behalf of donors, non-profits, businesses, as well as family and private foundations.

Fund Opportunities for Non-Profits

The Community Foundation offers a variety of different types of funds to meet the specific organizational needs of a non-profit.  For example, a non-profit may establish a fund to:
  • invest its operational assets;
  • protect its endowed monies to meet future needs;
  • provide a relatively constant source of annual income;
  • provide a vehicle for specific project funds;
  • accept real estate and other planned gifts.
Your organization's regular donors can add to the fund at any time.  They can leave a bequest through the Community Foundation to benefit your organization forever and create a personal legacy.  The Community Foundation can facilitate even the most complex planned gifts or gifts of appreciated stock or real estate.  We handle investment management and the administrative responsibilities related to the fund so that your organization's staff and volunteer hours are concentrated on fulfilling your mission.

Opportunities for Emerging Non-Profits

The Community Foundation of Brazoria County (CFBC) provides fiscal and project sponsorship for charitable projects that further the purposes of the Foundation. The Foundation may adopt a given project as a "Sponsored Project." Services provided to Sponsored Projects include provision of non-profit status to a project (thus making contributions tax-deductible), receipting and managing of contributions, and authorization and payment of grants and expenses from the fund created for the project.

The primary beneficiaries of the Community Foundation of Brazoria County "Sponsored Projects" are (1) new charities without an IRS determination letter; (2) community groups planning a project that is clearly charitable in nature.

Opportunities for Planned Giving
& Alternative Assets

The Community Foundation is able to accept myriad charitable gifts beyond traditional cash and stock gifts, all of which could benefit your non-profit. We have the ability to readily accept gifts such as real estate, life insurance policies, and artwork. We offer many planned giving options for you and your donors, such as charitable gift annuities. Our staff also has the ability to receive, sell, and manage these gifts in a cost-effective manner, resulting in maximum possible dollars available for your non-profit.
