Columbia Bottomlands Conservation Fund

The Community Foundation of Brazoria County has been awarded $25,000 by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to support the Columbia Bottomlands Conservation Fund.

The Columbia Bottomlands are the only remaining hardwood forest located near the Gulf of Mexico.

The Columbia Bottomlands provide habitat for 29 million birds of almost 240 different species who pass through each spring.

The Columbia Bottomlands are extremely important for resident wildlife like deer and mammals.

The Columbia Bottomlands originally spread over an estimated 700,000 acres , of which only about 177,000 acres remain today.

A Local Houston team won the Great Texas Birding Classic & donated $20,000 prize to Columbia Bottomlands Conservation Fund through CFBC.
